The Desire of Ages

When truth becomes a permanent principle in our life, the soul is reborn, "not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever." This new birth is the result of having received Christ as the Word of God. When divine truths are impressed upon the heart by the Holy Spirit, new feelings are awakened, and hitherto dormant energies are roused to cooperate with God.there are moments of perplexity and trial; but he also knew that the understanding of the Scriptures could empower the tempted, bringing to mind promises that could comfort the heart and strengthen faith in the Mighty One (The Acts of the Apostles, pp. 414, 415).
