Oh Dad… I knew this was coming. I knew you were tired; you said it many times in the last few months, and I could see you getting tired: it was getting harder and harder for you to walk. Then your appetite decreased (not that you were a huge eater because you weren’t), and then the falls started even in the safest room in the house (your bedroom). Then, it was becoming more and more difficult to talk. The hospice nurse told me on Saturday that it would be 72 hours— she was right. At 4:30pm this afternoon, you transitioned to your heavenly home.
Dad, I know you loved me. And I loved you too- even when you were difficult. Oh yes, there were times I was frustrated - but I always loved you and appreciated everything you did for me over my life. You were a good example of a “diamond in the rough”!
I know your soul is happy as can be now: you’re with Jesus, and you’re reunited with Mom, Carleen, Aunt Bernice, Uncle Calvin, and so many friends who went home to glory before you.
But I am still hurting, Dad. Walking into your room and seeing that empty bed, really started the tears flowing (again). I love you, Dad. I miss you and will always miss you until I get to heaven. Meanwhile, have a glorious reunion with Mom. Rest in peace, Dad— you earned it.🏾
