The Fire Scripture for today reveals a wonderful story about the people of Israel when they were entering the Promised Land. Prior to this time, Moses had allotted land to the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad and half of the tribe of Manasseh as their possession in the Promised Land. But after the death of Moses, Joshua took over as the new leader of Israel and God had to make it clear to him to inform the Reubenites, the Gadites and half tribe of Manasseh not to settle down in their possession but their men of war must cross the river Jordan with the rest of Israelites to fight until they all possess their land before they can return to enjoy theirs.
The only way we can reach out to help and save our nation is to lay aside the craving for self-indulgence and aggrandizement. We must step out of our convenience and comfort zones to reach out to our dying world. After Nehemiah finished fasting and praying for his people, he did not stop there. He went further to meet the king to grant him permission to go back home to fix the problem of his people. He did not mind losing his comfort and convenience just to salvage his people.
The divine formula to enter into true rest as individuals in this nation is to ensure that we arise and fight together with our other brethren who are facing hardship until we all have a common victory. You might have read about the story of a woman called Agnes GonxhaBojaxhiu (Mother Theresa). Mother Theresa did not set out to help the poor at the early days of her life. In fact, for over twenty years, she taught the wealthiest children in Calcutta, India.
One night, as she was walking down the street, she heard a woman crying out for help. It was in the moment that this dying woman fell into her arms that Mother Theresa's life changed forever. She strove to save the woman's life but she eventually died in her house. This is the true definition of empathy. We all must start from where we are living and working right now. Be the light in your neighbourhood!

5. Father, give me the passion to go all the way to help somebody every day of my life, in the name of Jesus.
6. Father, use me to give hope to the hopeless and help to the helpless, in the name of Jesus.
7. O Lord, give me the passion and zeal to build Your house and people, in the name of Jesus.
