Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

What a beautifully crisp day this first of December. Obviously, you can see that I slept in this morning. Yesterday’s dinner at my daughter’s house was a huge success. My son has claimed next family gathering is at his place. (his wife was not as enthusiastic, but she has time to recover…there are no family functions in the next several months as far as I know … haha)

While cooking my part of yesterday’s meal, I decided to try my hand at a competition piece. The first part is pretty good; however, the second part does not feel right. That will be part of my day today. Then, if that plays nice, I will work on the book four. I have started chapter three but hit a snag. It is probably a coffee thing. I just need more coffee. Haha.

Working for the post office, I know when the ‘Christmas’ season starts, but for the sake of this paper, we have now entered into the ‘season.’ The season of countdown. The season of the perfect gift. The season of decoration. The season of losing our minds so that we can be the best and provide the best. The best is all that matters. But that is not the what we should be striving for, unless you are searching to give the best hugs, the best encouragement, the best ears, the love. Love is not the price tag on a gift, it is your ‘presence.’

What do I remember about my childhood Christmas? I remember us getting together around the tree on Christmas morning. I remember us being a family. I remember me getting a basketball and my brother pots and pans. I remember my dad asking me if his took batteries and crying because he was not going to be surprised. He loved the flashlight and giggled with me about the batteries. I remember love.

We were not well off, not destitute, but not well off. My parents provided us with what they could on Christmas morning, and we were overwhelmingly happy. Did we get our wish list? No. We got better. We got their love. That surpasses everything else in the world.
As we endeavor to survive this Christmas season, remember that true meaning is Love. The love we show each other. The love we show ourselves. The Love that has been and is continually shown to us.

Be blessed today my friends.

***We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. – 1 Corinthians 2:6-7
