Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

I did, indeed, finish the first draft of a competition piece yesterday. Moving the prompts in a direction that is typically opposite of the intended desire. Then I sent the story to a couple of friends for flow and content cohesion. As I was awaiting their replies, I received an email from another competition that I had entered with a different story. To be honest, I was in the middle of a lot of things at the time that I wrote that one. So, I knew it would not do well. In all of my competition pieces that I have written, there has been a consistency of the need to proof before submission. This one with the feedback was no different. Some sort of proofing was stated in most of the reviews. I do use an editing tool; however, it does not catch a lot that the human eye will catch.

After reading the feedback and deciding that if I wanted a better shot of doing well in this competition, I started personally proofing my new story. Low and behold, I found an error right off the bat. Then giggled at myself, because I had looked back to make sure that I did not change her name … but I did. I am only a few paragraphs in and have found quite a few areas that need attention. This is a good thing. This tells me that I need to slow down and make sure that I am following the rules of writing. This also tells me that I do not need to rush through the items or areas that God has assigned to me. My pace should be in sync with His … or as close as I can.

He blessed me with a gift of imagination, a gift of words, and a gift of storytelling. He gifted me with an ability to see two sides of most situations. He gifted me with a love for writing.

Many times while we are in the throws of life, we see an area that we know we must pass through but have no desire to do so. In those cases, we tend to either procrastinate and delay the inevitable or … we run like the wind through them in hopes that we get a passing grade. Usually, we end up on the same path again and again until we find God’s pace.

There are many places that I have had to repeat the lesson in because of my pace not being in sync with his. Each time the enemy will throw some fake logic at me about my worthiness or His commitment to me or something along those lines. Each time, I walk the path again.

We are a linear and visual people. We like to only believe that which we can see and touch and prove to be true. If it does not fall into one of those categories, then it must be false. The huge problem with us is that faith does not fall into those containers. Faith is the belief that I do not need proof to believe that it is true.

Where is your faith today?

My faith is in the gifts that He has given me and that though I cannot see much, I can see Him. He is what I need more than proof.

Be blessed today my friends.
