Genesis 1:1-5/John 1:1-5 Comparing RSV Reader's Digest Volume 1 & 3, Polyglott, TNIV SB Zondervan, HCSB Essential Teen SB, GNB The Light TEV Nelson, KJV Jubilee African American, TLB The Book 1 Year, ANT James Moffatt (New), ERV Cowboys for Christ
2 This is the story of how the universe was formed.
Genesis 1:1-5 ANT James Moffatt (New) When God began to form the universe,
the world was void and vacant, darkness lay over the abyss; but the spirit of God was hovering over the waters,
God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness;
God called the light Day and the darkness he called Night. Evening came and morning came, making one day.
S. John 1:1-5 ANT James Moffatt (New) The Logos existed in the very beginning, the Logos was with God, the Logos was divine.
He was with God in the very beginning:
through him all existence came into being, no existence came into being apart from him.
In him life lay, and this life was the Light for men:
amid the darkness the Light shone, but the darkness did not master it.
