Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
As I lay in bed last night, fighting my brain to shut up and go to sleep, it came to me that we needed to talk about Esther.
Esther was a woman who was bound by an enormous number of rules and protocols. Rules from Mordecai to conceal her heritage. Protocols from the king’s court for when she could speak to the king. The rules of her God. Everywhere she turned, there was an existing challenge.
I found last night that, as I was fighting myself within my mind for peace and quiet, that she is and was the perfect example of our walk with Christ.
She was chosen by King Xerxes. She was instructed by her adopted dad. She was challenged to stand up for God’s people, even to the point of violating the rules of the court that could lead to death.
We are chosen by God, we are instructed by the Word, and sometimes we have to stand up for Him without regard to the outcome for us. Just as Esther pleaded with Mordecai about the potential repercussions of violating the king’s rules, we plead with the Holy Spirit to not make us walk certain paths…for they are uncomfortable and potentially dangerous.
A simple inquiry about faith can create an entire calamity. A request to correct something, knowingly wrong, can test boundaries. The mere intercession on the behalf of someone else can place a very large target on you for not going along with the crowd. In some countries, not this one yet, that target can result in death.
But if you remember, Esther’s poise in approaching the king about situations that needed to be addressed were met with promise and resolution. However, she had to overcome her fear of the unknown and act on what she knew was right. That is what we must resolve to do each day as we walk in this chaotic mess that the enemy has created. We must overcome our fears of the opinion of others because we are followers. We must overcome the world’s stigma against us. We must stand for the Father, because if we do not, He will not stand for us.
Daily I have a new battle in which I need to decide if I am going to follow the easy road and remain silent or am I going to take the road of potential recovery. I do not always pick the right road. Maybe that is why Esther came to me last night.
Today I desire to be more like Esther. Today I desire to be bold and compassionate. Today I choose … I choose the right path.
Be blessed today my friends.
