Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
Last night was extremely wonderful. We were given tickets to a dinner and gospel concert. Never had been to this church or heard of the group, but…we were both game to try. We met several new people and listened to several stories at dinner. Which, by the way, was delicious and I had trouble finishing my plate like a good girl. And I am a big girl so …. But anyway….haha. We migrated to the sanctuary for the concert after dinner. The church is beautiful.
The group got up and began to sing. The melody was on point. Personally, I could have had the backtrack music a bit lower so I could hear them a bit clearer, but that is a personal preference, and it really did not diminish the music or the show. The group’s name is The Hyssongs. Well worth a YouTube look up.
During their performance, they shared some of their testimony. They declared several devastating obstacles, but just as quickly declared God’s Victories.
One song that resonated with me, last night, is a song called Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep. As I listened to the lyrics my mind shut off. It was as though; this was God telling me about the next step in my thankfulness routine and how to get the most powerful sleep available. When I crawled into bed, way past my normal bedtime, I gave my thanks for the day and recited the Lord’s Prayer as is my routine, snuggled into my bed and adjusted the covers, set my bazillion alarms that I use and began to count my blessings. The next thing that I knew is that the first of my alarms was sounding right on time and I was well rested.
For about the last week, I have been having trouble winding down and shutting off my brain. I wake up exhausted and ready to call off so that I can have a few more hours of sleep, however, last night I did not have that battle. Last night went smooth as silk and I feel refreshed.
So today I give thanks for my Christmas present of the concert and dinner, very much enjoyed and refreshing; but I also want to give thanks and gratitude for the beautiful song that showed me how to shut my brain off at night. I encourage you to look it up. There are several artist’s renditions, but the song is a blessing.
Be blessed today my friends.
***Though we are slaves, our God has not deserted us in our bondage. He has shown us kindness in the sight of the kings of Persia: He has granted us new life to rebuild the house of our God and repair its ruins, and he has given us a wall of protection in Judah and Jerusalem. – Ezra 9:9
