Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

When I was doing my version of Keto (successfully) I made sure that there was always at least one case of water in the house; sometimes two or three. I drank it chilled. I drank it warm. I used it for my coffee. I drank a lot of water. After losing 40 pounds, I became arrogant thinking that I did not need to drink as much water. So I substituted it with sodas primarily. I watched the scales, and it took a while for my weight to start to rise. Each time I set a “if it hits this number I will….” The scale would hit that number, and I would get mad and try to revert, but it never lasted more than a day. Over the course of the last four years I successfully found all that I had lost. I have successfully stopped drinking water like I should. I have successfully failed in my attempt to be healthier.

Now, please understand that I am fully aware of what I ‘need’ to do, what I ‘must’ do, and what I am ‘not’ doing. I blame no one but myself and my choices. I am living with my choices. To the extreme that I have a case of water on the floor of my kitchen as we speak that is half gone…it has been there for over a month. The same case. I look at it every day…many times as I pass by it to go to the fridge and grab a soda. That water is not going to refresh me if I do not drink it, and I know that. Yet I still walk past it and do my own thing.

I have been a baptized believer for nearly forty years. I was baptized when I was sixteen. I am now 55. In that time, if I am being honest, there has only been one … yes one … time that I was full on where I was in the Word every day, many times a day. That was several years ago. You heard that right, several years ago. It was after I went to the Great Banquet and had my first ‘intense’ encounter with God and the Family.

I was so into the Holy Spirit and His teachings that I could actually read while the television was playing in the same room. The kids would have to say my name several times for me to hear them. I was in deep. Then I found that I could do other things again. I could have ‘fun’ as the world would describe. I could do ‘this’ or ‘that.’ I was not sinning; I just was not living with Him anymore. I still tried to help out anyone in need. I still spoke truth to all that would hear. I was still a Christian … but … I would continuously walk past the case of water to go get a soda … therefore not getting refreshed.

Our bibles are excellent story tellers. They are excellent words of wisdom. They are excellent examples of how we should live our lives. But they do us no good sitting on a shelf collecting dust. They are not fragile Ming vases, they are life.

I encourage you today to retrieve your bible from the shelf. Randomly open it to wherever it falls. Then read in the area that it opens to. Listen for and to God’s voice as he whispers your refreshment for the day. Stop walking past the case of water and take a drink.

Be blessed today my friends.
