"TO OBEY IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE". 1 Samuel 15:22
"How many claim to be the children of God, and yet refuse obedience to the fourth commandment of God! The commandment reads: "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work; but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God; in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, not thy stranger that is within thy gates."
(This is to be a day strictly devoted to God)
But instead of conforming their practice to the word of God, they make excuses, and offer to God the first day of the week, (Sunday) which he has not commanded or sanctified. Is not this offering as defective as was the offering of Cain?
He who truly believes in Christ will be obedient to all of God's commandments. {ST, June 1, 1891 par. 7}
Exodus 20:8-11 REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY, TO KEEP IT HOLY. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: BUT THE SEVENTH DAY is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the SEVENTH DAY: WHEREFORE THE LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH DAY, AND HALLOWED IT.
John 14:15, If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 14:21, He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
John 15:10, If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
James 2:10-12 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
Blessed are those who do His Commandments, that they may have the right to the Tree of Life, and may enter through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:14
