What a strange thing when we begin to see ourselves to be more capable than God. The Bible affirms that without Him we can do nothing (John 15:5). Apostle Paul also advised that we should have no confidence in the flesh. All these are pointers to the simple fact that what we are, have or can do, are all our divine endowment. But how soon we forget and begin to see our abilities and capabilities outside God, who is the giver of all good things, including our talents.
This was one error made by the builders of the acclaimed British passenger liner that was the largest ship floated at that time (2 April 1912). It was strongly built and an excellent workmanship. Her maiden voyage took off on 10 April 1912; the total people on board were 3,327,892 crew and passengers 2,435, but had only 20 life boats on board.
Note that when interviewed earlier, the builder of the ship in his response to ascertain the safety of this great achievement said, "It is a ship that God Himself could not sink." What a wrong statement! May be we should not blame him, because he was possibly ignorant of God and His awesome power. His ignorance and self-confidence led him to utter these proud words against the Almighty. Sadly, all human power failed. The Titanic (meaning gigantic in Greek mythology) hit an iceberg on 14 April, 1912 and sank 2 hours 40 minutes later to a depth of 12,415 feet. Many people lost their lives, including many wealthiest men and families at that time. It is a disaster never to be forgotten in human history. Beloved, God cannot be mocked, under estimated or ignored He is God and all power belongs to Him. In all your ways acknowledge Him (Proverbs 3:5-7).
