Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
Winter has arrived. We were blessed with about an inch of beautiful, white, flaky snow last night. Had I had a better target than the dog, I may have started a snowball fight. It was the good snow. As I prepared to take the dog out, I secured two hoodie sweatshirts and gloves. I used the insulated waders. Then, we went outside. I am making sure that my pride in “I can handle anything” does not make me sick.
As soon as my puppers saw that majestic powdery, yet snowball ready snow gracefully drifting to the ground, her even more energetic youthfulness exploded. It is a good thing that I am slightly (ha ha) heavier than her to be able to maintain balance and an anchor. We played the round and round game. We played catch the snowflake game. We played let’s try and drag mommy down game with multiple lunges. Then we played the pretend attack game. This morning was similar. But today I could not play all the games for I do still have to get ready for work. I did promise her that when I got home, we would go next door to the neighbor’s pen, and I would turn her loose to play and frolic. That should be extremely entertaining.
While we were walking and playing last night, I felt the peace of our Lord falling with each flake. There was no wind. There was no chill. There was only a playful pup and some incredibly beautiful snow. Last night’s snow is what I love to watch while a fire is burning, and I am sitting in a window room embracing His presence. The gentle snow fall of last night, was God’s peace.
Walking through the snow this morning, whilst still a picturesque view, the chill made the morning scene just that more serene and welcoming. Most know, because I do not keep it a secret, that snow is not my thing. I still have to drive through it, and I usually hit the snow vortex when drives my eyes nuts, but snow is necessary for the farmers. It is required to moisten the fields and prepare for the new planting season. God reminded me that His snow, is not only the fields, but it is also for my peace. The gentle peace of His love to create artwork such as this.
Take a moment today and remember what brings you peace. What key element brings your anxiety level down? What key presence reduces your stress the minute…no nanosecond that your eyes or ears cue into it. Today if you are in a moment of disorder, I pray that you will seek that serene picture-perfect place and rest there. Regardless of what is going on, use that place to maintain your focus of peace and fulfillment. Today, my perfect place is the beautifully calm snow fall last night. That is my happy place today. What is yours?
Be blessed today my friends.
