Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

This morning I had three alarms set. I was going to get up at a respectable early time and spend time with Him. My first alarm was set for six. As predicted, I asked for a little more time. So there was the six-thirty then the seven. Around the seven-time frame, my husband thought a door had blown open because it was so cool in the house. A search resulted in that we live in an old house going through menopause too. After the thorough search for doors and windows, I snuggled back into bed to warm myself back up. Consequently, it was 7:30 before my feet truly hit the floor for the day. Not what I had planned, but it will be fine. My coffee is hot. My house is protecting me from the elements, and I am at peace.

Have you ever made plans to set time aside for a certain activity and something happens that it does not fall into place as planned? Is that plan a resolution or desire to spend more time with Him, either in the morning, noon, or evening and then life happens? How do you approach the misstep? How do you assess the impact? How do you ‘feel’ about the missed appointment you planned for? Here is how I approach my tardiness or absence.

First, I apologize for not meeting my committed time for our discussion and interaction. I listen for His response. For me, it is a cool chill of acceptance and inclusion. Today, as I cuddled back into bed, I was wide awake and thought that I would only be there for a minute to take the chill off, but then it was 30-45 minutes later. I sat on the edge of my bed, yelled in my head daylight savings time, and realized that if we hadn’t set our clocks back, it would still be dark at 8 instead of 7, then I said my morning prayer. I thanked Him for the extra rest, as I woke up congested. A cool chill rushed through me. At that point, I immediately began my morning routine. Almost two hours later than planned, but still fully vested.
When I miss my original time, especially on my day off, I just take off when my eyes open and my feet hit the floor. I do not allow the enemy to detour me into thinking that I missed the boat. Even when the full spectrum of my morning is missed due to circumstances, (floods, emergencies, late night issues, etc.), I find a way to spend time in the minutes allowed for the day where nothing is going on, to talk to Him. The writing may not happen, and the reading delayed, but I find time to talk to Him. For me, that is the most important part…talking to my Father. No matter what the ‘plan’ was, the real plan is to spend time with Him. Sometimes the enemy will put into place the truth of “you always have time to spend with your phone, you know He sees that right…you are not forgiven.” To which the enemy is correct that I always seem to have time for my phone … games, texts, emails, social media, etc. … in that moment, I am an adulteress for putting something in front of my God. However, I am forgiven, because I do use my phone as an outlet to Him as well.

Remember, the enemy will use whatever he can find to twist and mutilate into his concoction of the truth to make you feel horrible that you failed to meet your original plan. However, the Father knows you and is always there. I was prompted to go back to bed this morning because I needed rest to combat this cold I am trying to catch. My body regenerates best when I sleep. My body fights illness best when I sleep. My Father knew that I had a cold and wanted his temple to stand strong. With the extra couple of hours sleep, I feel like I can do just that.

Just because (your) plan did not work out, does not mean that His plan didn’t.

Be blessed today my friends.
