The word of God is a treasure of inestimable value. Its blessings are unquantifiable. It is God's gift to man, the solution to all his challenges and the answer to all the questions that boggle his mind. As invaluable and life-transforming as God's word is, man must exhibit the right attitude towards it to reap and enjoy its numerous benefits. One of such right attitudes is to pay attention to God's word.
Paying attention to God's word means that we give it pre-eminence in our lives. Our Fire Scripture for today, particularly verses 20-22 tells us how we are to pay attention to God's word. First, you must read it regularly. You must deliberately set aside time each day to read and study the Bible. That is how you can keep God's words from departing from your eyes while you keep them in the midst of your heart. Second, you must listen attentively to God's word. You can achieve this by paying attention to sermons, teachings, and discussions about God's Word.
Third, you meditate on God's word from time to time. Create time to reflect on Scripture, thinking deeply about its meaning and application. In addition, you must apply God's word practically. You should put it into practice, obeying its commands and principles. Study God's word thoroughly; dig deeper into Scripture, using tools like commentaries and concordances.
You should also memorise God's word. Always hide its verses and passages in your heart. More so, you should discuss the word of God with others. Engage in Bible studies, small groups, and conversations about God's word.
By paying attention to God's word, we can deepen our faith, gain wisdom and guidance, develop a closer relationship with God, find comfort and encouragement, grow in spiritual maturity, increase our knowledge and understanding, enhance our ability to discern truth and experience transformation and renewal.
Beloved, this year, resolve to esteem God's word more than your necessary food and value it more than gold and silver. As you pay greater attention to the Scriptures this year and make it your final authority, you will experience its life-transforming power and your joy will be full, in the name of Jesus.
