The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:20: “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us”. That truth should have a tremendous impact on how we live our lives each day. You see, when we are dealing with the world, the lost, and even the Body of Christ it isn’t about our opinions or our preferences, but what God and His Word say. For us to be an ambassador for Christ we have to get out of the way because our responsibility is to represent Jesus to the world. To do that we must first know Jesus, know what God’s Word says, and be determined to share God’s truth with the world, not a mix of the Bible and our own opinions which can often either contradict the Word or share an opinion as truth when it isn’t.
It may seem like a daunting task, but God shared with us the means to accomplish it. Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me”. You see, we don’t just add Jesus to our lives, He becomes our life and lives through us. Paul added to that by saying in 1 Corinthians 15:31 “ I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily”. We have to each day decide to die to ourselves and live for Jesus. While we see many today who want to live their Christian life on their own terms and be just committed enough to make it to heaven, our true responsibility is to be an ambassador, fully committed, and sacrificing ourselves for the sake of the gospel. When the world looks your way do they see you or see Jesus? That is something we can all work on for sure.
Luke 9:23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
Galatians 5:24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
John 12:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
