Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

Last night I watched a show where a young (12 yo) kid was shot and ultimately killed for supposedly breaking into a house. The first problem was that the house was his and he had forgotten his key. The second problem was his skin tone.

A few nights ago, a couple was in a car accident, she was unconscious, but he was seemingly very concerned for her well-being. To the point where he convinced someone to take him to her so that she would not be scared when she woke up. First problem (unknown at the time obviously) he was a predator. Second problem he ultimately caused an explosion which cost him his life and the career (by choice) of someone who used to work there.

What is the first thing that strikes you when you see someone new? Is it skin color? Is it weight? Is it the smile or lack thereof? Is it the eyes? Is it the aura of confidence, arrogance, simplicity, homeliness, shyness…?

We all do it? We all see a spark or item that strikes our attention first. Without consciously thinking about we make assumptions somewhere in our mind about that person. Such as, a woman comes to your store with a truck load of youngins…questions that come to mind…(jokingly) does she know what causes that, (admiringly) she is a braver woman than I am, (curiously) I wonder if she is the day care?

However, honestly, what business is it of ours? What we should be focusing on is … is there a presence or our Lord around her? Does she seem to have an underlying peace about her or does she need an intervention of prayer or physical assistance? Physical assistance can be as simple as a complement to how beautiful the children are or how beautiful she looks today. Let’s flip this to a man with a lot of kids at his feet. Is he a stay-at-home dad…a lazy I don’t want to get a job dad, a single dad…the game is the same. And though they (men) do not usually ask for assistance, we should still be equipped and willing to offer support and love of Christ.

In my store I have several moms and dads who come in with their beautiful collection of kids. There are many whom I ask the kids if they are keeping mommy and daddy out of trouble. Sometimes the kids will play along and say it is just too hard. Which brings a relief of laughter. Other times they tell me that they are keeping them out of trouble. Some get really bashful, and mom/dad will say that we promised not to tell but we are getting into trouble together. Which also brings smiles, and I promise to keep the secret.

We have a real problem in this world. Not just our country, but the world. We judge a person’s worthiness of our time by their appearance. I am so thankful that Jesus did not do that with the apostles. I am so thankful that he did not do that with me. We have the power to change the stigma of the world, one person at a time. Let’s quit looking at the person and start looking at their heart. Let’s start looking for the aura and presence of God in their lives. Let’s start putting the enemy back where he belongs … under our feet. Let’s start treating others … the way we should have been … they way that Christ treats us. With Love.

Be blessed today my friends.
