I want to share something that is on my heart this morning and that will be part of Conversations With The Evangelist this afternoon Live at 4 EST on Facebook on James Carter's Timeline. This is something I have long believed but it came up during Bible Study yesterday with David Rietdorf and others, then I woke up with it on my heart this morning so going to share here.

The topic is this concept of "getting saved" that so many in the Modern American Church seem to be so focused on. To summarize, I do not believe there is any such thing or at least not as we practice it.

Being Born Again of The Spirit as Jesus said we must, or what so many want to call "getting saved" does not require saying specific words, repeating words after a preacher, closing your eyes and raising your hands, or anything else we so often hear and are told in our churches. Those are all man-made concepts that are more about getting you to put your trust in a man and what the person who helped "lead you to salvation" than it does Jesus.

Rather, what Jesus expects of us, and how we become part of His Family, is to put our trust in Him and come to Him for forgiveness of our sins. He already did all of the work on the Cross, there is nothing we can or must do in order to receive the Free Gift He offers of Eternal Life.

Now, having said that, it is helpful to actually speak words to Jesus asking for forgiveness and to be adopted into the Family of God. (And I know most have already stopped reading because they are mad at what I said above.) But there is no specific way or place to do that. In fact, I would say it is much less likely that we are going to truly be Born of the Spirit during a large gathering, what we call a church service, than when we are alone with God. Rather, what we must understand is that moment is but ONE STEP in our Journey. It is simply the FIRST STEP in a long journey of Living Saved that must continue every moment of every day until we see Jesus Face To Face.

We must seek to be IN Jesus every moment of every day from the instant we are Born of The Spirit until Jesus calls us Home. And when we fail and fall short, understand that is not the end. Just ask for forgiveness and ask the Holy Spirit to help you do better the next time. That is what is meant by Living Saved and what is necessary to have our names written in the Lamb's Book of Life.

My prayer is that this applies to you. If it is, no matter how you began to Walk in Jesus, let no Man tell you that you are not saved just because you did not do it their way.
