 When Yahwah Messiah came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, EliYah; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, but whom say ye that I am?

 Mark 8:27-30
 And Yahwah Messiah went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, whom do men say that I am? And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, EliYah; and others, One of the prophets. And he saith unto them, but whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Messiah. And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.
 Luke 9:18-20
o And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, whom say the people that I am? They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, EliYah; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again. He said unto them, but whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, Yahwah Messiah.

 Messiah asked two questions - who do men (unsaved) say that I am and who do you say that I am?

 1st - Who do men (unsaved) say that I am?
 Is Messiah an egotist because he’s asking this question? No, He is showing His disciples the difference between the way the people see Him and the way his disciples see Him.
 He is explaining how the Holy Spirit has shown them who he really is.
 He is showing the comprising of the people’s spiritual blindness and what the Holy Spirit has revealed to them. As seen in verse 16.
 Notice that He doesn’t ask, "Who do the scribes and Pharisees say that I am?" They were prejudiced against him, and said that he was a deceiver and in league with Satan; but, "Who do men say that I am?" He referred to the common people, whom the Pharisees despised.
 He didn’t need to ask this question as he already knew what the people thought of Him.
 He wanted to know what the people were saying to His disciples about Him since the people would speak to His disciples before Him.
 2nd - Who do you say that I am?
 He asks Him What their thoughts are of Him.
 The disciples were closer to Messiah than anyone else so they would be able to give Him a deeper perspective of Him to other people.
 He is asking us this question today.
 Who do we say that he is?
 How would we describe Messiah in our life?
 Is He precious to us?
 Is he the Beloved of our souls?
 Are our thoughts right or wrong concerning Yahwah Messiah.
 As we examine our heart tonight, we need to ask “Who do we say that he is?”
