Years ago when I would go to the Alabama State Fair they had an attraction called the House of Mirrors. It was a maze of mirrors where you had to find your way through all the reflections. Some of the mirrors made you look tall and skinny, and some of them made you look short and fat. In some, you just looked weird. Not only was it difficult to find your way through the images, but you didn’t see yourself as you really are.

The way others see you is often distorted by their own perceptions, prejudices, and problems. They never see the real you. When we go through life looking to people to give us a reflection of who we are or how we look it is much the same way. You never get a true reflection of who you are. Some will flatter you, some will tear you down, and some think you are just weird. The only true reflection of yourself is when you look into the mirror of God’s eyes. The true reflection of who you are is how you measure up according to God’s Word. Stop looking to people for your affirmation or self-worth. Look into the eyes of our Lord and ask Him to let you see yourself as He sees you. Then and only then can you find peace, confidence, and the ability to see where you need to make the adjustments to be who God always intended you to be; and always know….God loves the person He sees when He looks at you.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

1 Sam. 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
