Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

Stick with me this morning. I have been getting 8-10 hours of sleep, and my brain is rested. This means that I have NO idea where this is going. When I say that I have gotten 8-10 hours of sleep, it was not just last night. It has been the last few nights, so when I tell you I do not know what will come out of this well rested brain, I am serious.

I told you about the pond a couple of weeks ago in my basement and that we moved the water softener and water heater upstairs. The water softener has not been ‘used’ in a long time, like over a year, because neither of us could get the bags of salt to it in the basement. Now that it is full and upstairs, I have seen a significant difference in my water. To the positive I might add.

Right before we moved this equipment upstairs, my Keurig was starting to act up and throwing a tantrum to let me know it was time to clean it. Of course I would make a ‘mental note’ to get the cleaning solution when I went to the store, and each time I would forget. The Keurig’s sensor was not reading correctly I think, because I would hit the large cup and get the half cup. So it had to be clogged right?

Now, at least a month, since we moved the equipment upstairs, and I still have not gotten the solution, my Keurig is still sensing funny. Now, I have to hit the half cup or middle button to get a full cup. If I hit the large cup, I get a flood. My intention today when I go to the store is to get the solution and actually clean it, but it appears that the new soft water is doing its fair share of cleaning for me.

For most of my life, especially when I am walking close with God, I set my alarm for oh dark thirty and spend quiet time with him. So my sleep pattern is usually 6 hours at best, sometimes on rare occasions 7 hours. This has served me quite well. I feel rested and ready to take on the world because I am in my routine. Even through my husband’s last surgery I maintained the schedule with few exceptions. The routine kept me balanced.

This time around, God has placed it on my heart to rest. He has elaborated that 4 am is not the only time that I can talk to him. He has expressed his concern for my mental status. He has shown me where the enemy is piercing my armor and…to be honest…where I am opening the door to let the enemy in.

Since I was made a ‘fixer,’ I feel the need to fix everything. In that process I forget about or ignore myself. I allow tiny particles of the world to harden my heart and water dispensary. Yes, I laugh and give love, I do what I can to ease everyone’s burden, but instead of following God’s lead and staying out of His way, I take on their burden and work to solve it. Thus closing off my own flow of Living Water to my walk with Him. I get up earlier so that I can have my time, but I am only getting a half a cup because the hardened water is clogging my dispensary. Now that I am catching up on much needed rest, I am seeing a lot of things and areas that I need to work on…on/in my own walk. The first step is noticing that your machine is not working properly and clean it out.

Just like I need to finish cleaning my Keurig to remove the hard water particles the rest of the way so that the sensor will know how much water to dispense, I need to dive deeper and more consistent into God’s word to plug the pinholes in my armor and to relatch the doors that I have opened. This does not mean that I quit helping others, which is part of the Love and Service, but it does mean that I quit trying to do it myself and give it to God to guide me on how He wants me to proceed.

My friends, we are strong yet fragile vessels of clay. We can hold gallons upon gallons of water, but if we allow the world to crack us just a tiny bit, our Living Water seeps out without us really noticing a little at a time until we are empty.

Fill my cup, Lord. Fill my cup. Seal the cracks in my armor and open my eyes to Your will.

Be blessed today my friends.

*** You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. – Psalm 23:5-6
