Running The Race
Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
We see in the above scripture how are to walk as believers. We are to lay aside the trials and tribulations that we encounter in our life. These could include doubt, discouragement, depression, pride, lust, anger, unforgiveness, lying, swearing, gossiping, rebellion, selfishness, impatience, apathy, indifference. It could also be difficult situations – persecution at work, a wayward child, an ongoing health problem, unemployment, marital problems.
The scriptures encourage us to lay these things aside. That is not always easy to do but Yahwah wants to do this so we can more clearly see the race, and more importantly, the finish line that is before us. He doesn’t want us to be bogged down in this world by things, in the end, don’t really mean anything.
Am I saying theses feelings are not legitimate? No, I’m not saying that at all. What I am saying is that satan will try to discourage to give up. Remember what Yahwah’s word says:
John 10:10
“The thief (satan) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”.
Notice what the second part of the scripture says “I (Yahwah) am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”.
Satan will try to trip us up with these things but we need to lay them aside and continue the race, the race to eternal life, that we see before us.
In the final stretch of a cross-country race the people running the race are looking at the finish line, not the runners or the crowd around them. This is what we need to do. Hebrews 12:2a says “Looking unto Messiah the author and finisher of our faith.”
May we ask for Yahwah’s help to lay aside everything that is holding back from finishing the race that is set before us.
Yahwah Bless you!
