Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

Growing up without much made life a little more realistic for me. I couldn’t just go beg my parents for anything I wanted. I could ask, of course, but tantrums were not advised. I was grateful for everything that I did get that was special. My favorite drink was Mt. Dew. I remember my mom buying me a six pack one time and telling me that when they were gone, they were gone. Though in the moment I told myself that I would savor them, I was a kid…that did not happen. However, I also did not go ask for another six pack. My mom did this on occasion as a reward. I accepted as a bonus gift. Whenever mom or dad would do a ‘special’, the soda, a dinner at the diner, or even simply a drive one afternoon, I embraced them. This was ‘normal’ life to me.

Through my adult life, I have made some not so wise choices which in turn caused some utilities to be turned off. Silly things like electricity, gas, … water. You know …non-essential for comfortable survival items. As I have gotten older, I have made less and less of those poor choices. Over the years I have made it my mission to not make those kinds of decisions ever again. In doing so, my normal life is much like everyone else’s, so I believe.

In the town that I live in, a water main was broken last week. We were notified of the problem and that our water would be shut off. A necessity to make the repair and not lose the town’s water supply into a field because of the break. There were only three houses and one business affected by this break and honestly, I was like, no big deal. We can buy water for drinking and cooking, and we can get water for the stools. We might just stink a little. There was no dismay about the situation at all in my mind. This was Thursday afternoon, when we were told.

Though I am not a “suzie homemaker,” the mere knowledge of not having the tools to lean or flush with out buckets … really messed with my mind by yesterday. I was a literal couch potato. I watched television all day. In retrospect, it was really stupid, because I knew what the weekend was going to be like, I had the information beforehand, there were no surprises, but yet I allowed a darkness to cover me.

My husband got a hold of the water guy and asked if there was any way to get the water back for just a couple of hours to shower and refill our buckets. He was kind and gave us five. In that five-hour time frame, we both got cleaned up and two loads of dishes were washed. Afterwards, it was like normal was back and all was well in the world.

The purpose of today’s post is though I lived in an era where things were not plentiful and was used to not having, where in my life I made choices where I did not have, but when a simple component for life was taken away … even for a short time … it affected me deeply.

Those who have never known Jesus, are just living their life as a normal life. They do not know that He is available. Once they are truly introduced to Him, some make the choice and live without him by their actions. But when He is taken from us … that is when the darkness takes over.

Isn’t it ironic that my water was shut off because of a water main break and today’s post is about our Living Water being taken from us?

Yesterday was a difficult day for me. I did not want to do anything and so I didn’t. I forgot the Gift of his Love and how precious it is. As strong a believer as I am, I dropped the ball. A simple bath in ugly well water with Epsom salt and bubbles, rejuvenated my earthly body. It also reminded me of my spiritual needs. I failed in many ways yesterday, but the Good News is this … Today is a new day.

Just because you fall and have the wrong ideas, does not mean that all is lost. It just means that you are human and sometimes we take too much for granted. There are many people who do not have water, but there are many more who do not have Living Water. Today I will find at least one to share my abundant supply of Living Water with. How about you?

Be blessed today my friends.

*** 19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. – Hebrews 10:19-24
