Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
Today we go for our second follow up and to have the last of the stitches removed. We also find out if any of his restrictions are lifted. That is key.
Yesterday was a beautiful gift from God. The temperature was perfect. The sun was glorious. We actually enjoyed the errands and appointments that we had because the travel conditions were perfect.
I was supposed to have a podcast interview last evening and I remembered an hour after the time that was scheduled. Which is really bad for me because I had been talking about it all day trying to NOT forget. I am hoping that we can reschedule soon.
Back when my church was on the challenge of reading the gospels as many time as we could before the end of the year, I read that we are to use the ways of the world to our advantage. Mind you, this concept may not have been ‘in’ the gospels, but it was during this time frame. My point is this, I have told you about my addiction to Grey’s Anatomy. There are mountains of topics that burn my blood; however, they also highlight some very sensitive topics. Such as Roe v. Wade.
Let me stop right here and explain that I am NOT discussing my view on this decision. That is not the point of this post. The conduct of those who are “Pro Life” in the sense of stopping abortions is anything but “Pro Life.”
Yes, I know that this is a television show. But based on our current history of tantrums when we don’t get our way, or we think our actions are “Freedom of Speech” I would have to say the nailed this.
As the church, you, and I, we should be out there fighting for the truth. The real truth. This is absolute. However, what is not Christlike is rolling everything into a tight little ball and calling it everything. The Pharisees did this to the poor and destitute calling them unworthy of God’s love because they would not pay the sacrifice, or they were cast off as “sinners” and could not be saved because of their status in town. Where the common man was a sinner, the Pharisees discarded them into one lump category and failed to educate them for their own snobbish reasons of self-indulgence. Someone please explain to me, how “Pro Life” protests that turn violent, that stalk employees, that malign patients of these clinics … how is that not worse than what the Pharisees did? We are supposed to be evolved in the Word and yet we act like minions of the underworld in order to be heard.
Saul thought that by persecuting and killing ‘Christians’ he was serving God’s Kingdom. His ideas were self-indulgent and atrocious. Yet, God blinded him on the road and his view changed dramatically.
If Saul, who was high in the respect of the elders of the synagogue, can have his views changed, then so can we. Again, this is not about the rights and wrongs of Roe v. Wade, what this is about is the rights and wrongs of how we conduct ourselves while fighting for our position. I only know of one time when Jesus completely lost his temper, and no one was physically hurt…only a mess was made and feelings hurt. Why do we think that it is all right to stalk people and make them feel unsafe? Why do we think it is godly to shame people publicly in the name of Jesus? These are not actions the church should be taking. This is how the church is divided.
Christ came and set with sinners, tax collectors, adulterers, murders and loved them all. Is that really so hard to do? In some ways it is, because though we have evolved in the Word, we are still living in world. That is a fact. Not a fact that cannot be corrected, but still a fact.
Over the course of the next few days I am going to educate myself in things that are not of my choosing or that I believe are correct, and see what I can do, as a true Christlike Christian, to settle the stirred pot in the areas that I can make an impact. First one will be … Love Unconditionally … because that is how He loves me with my MANY faults.
Be blessed today my friends.
