Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
With my husband on the mend, and me not needing to be as light a sleeper, last night I took a sleep aid and apparently, we need to hire a carpenter to repair the ceiling in our room because my snoring dislodged the rafters. (haha) I will tell you this, though I have been getting sound sleep this last couple of weeks without the aid, I am sleeping longer and do not feel as refreshed as I do this morning. Since we have an appointment 2 hours away and at least one stop to make beforehand, I felt a swig of Nyquil was needed. It worked, I feel wonderful.
The second round of judging is in, and my story did not win in the second round either. I will admit that I was frustrated because I felt it was some of my best work. Then I got a case of the “what is wrong with these people" and “are they all so anti-god that He does not have a chance” pity party dance inside my head. My ego wanted acknowledgment for His presence. I wanted acknowledgment for His story.
I know that it is normal to want to do well. I also know that I am planting seeds. What is also very real is the desire to see the seed take root. My losses in each of these rounds could be because my writing technique is not as tight as they want, but the enemy is hard core in my mind that it I am wasting my time and need to stop because I am not good enough. The enemy is also hardcore in my head saying that no one wants to read my stories. These mini dramas go through my head and cause me to stall out. However, then something equally important happens, I have an extraordinary night’s sleep, and my husband wakes me up with a fresh cup of coffee.
Friends, the easiest way to know if you are on the right path is if that path is full of deep potholes and cliffs on each side. If there are briars and down trees creating obstacles. Dark clouds and rain. When those conditions become so much the forefront of your journey, you are in the melting pot of purification and the enemy knows it. It doesn't make it easier, but it gives the path more meaning. I am no different. I want success in my stories. I want to write and spread the Good News. I want acknowledgement from the world that they heard the message and received it. I want … I want … Do you hear ME? It is not about me. That is the hardest part of the gospel to pass along. It is easy to tell someone, but oh it is so hard to live. I think it is in our DNA to WANT the accolades and affirmation of a job well done…sometimes our egos grow quite large.
Today I am trying to show that I am no different than anyone else. My ‘feelings’ get ruffled when I don’t win and it has virtually nothing to do with His message, but my ego. I struggle daily with making sure that I put Him first. Making sure that I put me last. I fail daily. But I know that He gives me the power to overcome and do better each day. It is normal to want the ‘attention,’ and He gives us the attention, but it is the enemy who exasperates the limelight into a concert show necessity. Take a few moments and remember the real reason we are here on the path that He has designed for us and walk proudly in His light. I will take a moment today and remember the end project that He has placed on my heart and remember that He has a plan for each of my stories.
With that being said, though clouds will be in my forecast today as we drive, a beautiful Light will fill my heart as I spend the day on the lamb with my husband. Haha.
Be blessed today my friends.
***Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked. “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.” Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him. – Matthew 20:32-34
