Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
Yesterday was a slow day at the office. I decided that I would catch up on the paperwork. In doing that, I realized that an audit of the paperwork against the box section needed to be done. As I was putting things in order to accomplish this, a random po box key caught my attention. Then I decided that this would be a great time to work on the keys of closed boxes getting them all together. As I pulled the loose keys together, I remembered all the locks that were either missing keys all together or only had one/two keys…they need three to be usable. At this point I pulled all the keys and locks out on to the counter. Eventually I made signs of the numbers of the locks, making it easier to verify keys (big marker numbers are easier and quicker to read than the etched numbers on the locks). In conducting this mighty time-consuming task, I was able to revive five locks for use, find that some of my random keys were to actual issued boxes and put them away, and roughly three sets of keys with NO lock to be found (still haven’t figured that one out). When contemplating my next move, I remembered that I had pulled the excess keys for each box out and put them in an envelope clearly marked. I did this so the key box would close properly and neatly. However, I first implemented this system a couple of years ago, and I was not sure if I had incorporated the ‘spare’ keys in the object lesson of when I had to change locks. Naturally, I had to pull those keys, go to another area, open each envelope, pull out the keys and verify the keys were correct. In this process I did find that I had duplicate envelopes with keys that were not correct, however when checking those keys against the spare lock disaster on my other counter, they still did not find a home.
Now it is time to get my act together for the end of the day. I have my spare key envelope object lesson strewn over one shelf, on one end of the building. My random key/lock debacle on the front counter behind my window. The paperwork that started this adventure stacked (not so neatly) by my computer. To make this even better, I have all the regular box keys drawers sitting out of their slots for easier visibility in a corner in the vault. I am thinking that my ADDOSHT is looking for new limits to push.
With today being payroll day, I am sure that will add another element of ADD to my plate and maybe even another pile to build. I get to work tomorrow, so I can always finish this adventure then. However, I am determined to do my best and finish at least 2 parts of this five-part adventure today. Who knows maybe I will get three done. Haha.
Many times I feel that the above-described day is my walk with Christ. I get an idea, that leads me to NOT finishing the first idea because a second idea that rolls with the first can be done concurrently, then a third, then a fourth … you see where this is going … yet the first idea was only the catalyst and still not completed. I look at these times as blessed curses. Stick with me.
Blessing: give the idea. Curse: knowing it is time consuming and not really wanting to do it. Blessing: given the drive to complete the task. Curse: mind runs a million miles an hour and in starting you see other things to be done. Blessing: determination to complete all tasks. Curse: ultimately takes longer because one task was not done at a time. Blessing: all tasks get done.
It really is just a matter of perspective. I have been putting this entire project off for a while because it is time consuming. Being honest. However, hopefully by today’s end … it will all be current.
Do not be hard on yourself because you were not designed to focus on one thing at a time. Do not be hard on yourself because you CAN ONLY focus on one thing at a time. You were designed to be you. You are only required to be the best you that you can. He does not make mistakes; you are a child of God.
Be blessed today my friends.
