Good afternoon to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
So this morning I spoke about actually reading the Word and not just listening to it. I tried this at lunch and found my mind drifting everywhere except the page I was on. My conclusion, at least for me today, was that I would listen to the scripture as I read along with it. Double shot of goodness. I am glad that I did.
In the reading for today, Colossians chapter 2 as prescribed by my pastor on Sunday, one word sprang out at me. Sprang out in such a manner that I had to look it up and have been pondering on it for about thirty minutes now.
Sinew.
noun
1. a piece of tough fibrous tissue uniting muscle to bone or bone to bone; a tendon or ligament:
• (sinews)
the parts of a structure, system, or thing that give it strength or bind it together:
Colossians Chapter 2, verse 19.
They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.
I am thinking that I want to be considered a sinew. A tough fibrous ligament holding and growing in God. That sounds like it would be worth the fight. Or maybe the desire should be to be the bone and rely on God as the sinew to hold me together.
What are your thoughts?
