On January 18th my sister Carrie started throwing up and having severe stomach cramps, after about a hour she told my mom to call the ambulance. So mom did we just thought that she had a bad stomach bug or food poisoning. At the ER the surgeon said that she had severe pancreatitis and fluid around her heart. The surgeon also thought that she had a bowel obstruction.She was rushed in for emergency surgery. She was in the ICU for a week where she got double pneumonia. She was in the main hospital for 3 weeks. She still has a small hole in her stomach that has to heal from the inside out,she has a wound vac and nurses that change the dressing twice a week. She saw the surgeon today and they took out the rest of her staples and the hole is healing nicely.The surgeon said that she should be completely healed in 8 weeks.She has to follow up with the surgeon in 3 weeks. She goes to the heart doctor on the 3rd to see if she still has fluid around her heart.
