"And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you." Matthew 17:20 KJV

In this Gospel account, we see Jesus giving a powerful message about how faith works. Known to be one of the smallest seeds in the time of Jesus, the mustard seed eventually grows into a big plant, and this is much like faith works. It is encouraging to know that God is not expecting us to start with giant-sized faith, but we can start with a small step of trust in God.

Beloved, the good news is that when circumstances seem to be too much to handle, immovable, and impossible to overcome by our own strength and ability, we only need to take small steps that show how much we are willing to trust God. Every small opportunity that we seize by leaning on the power of God makes us grow in our faith more and more. Faith makes us step out to go beyond our limited capacity, and it allows us to tap into the limitless power of God. We acknowledge that with God on our side, no mountain is too high!

Lord Jesus, I come to You and choose to trust You even when my faith seems small. Help me to grow in my trust in You so that I may learn to believe in Your greater things. Please help me to move the mountain of challenges in my life as You strengthen my faith, even if it may be just as small as a mustard seed. In Jesus' name. Amen.
