HAVE YOU MET CHRIST?
But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life. (Revelation 21:27)
Let me tell you the story of Benson Cameron. Benson was an 80-year-old deacon in my first pastorate. He was half blind (actually, three quarters blind). He had glasses, big, black horn-rimmed glasses. Everyone knew that when Benson was on the road, they would just pull off to the side of the road because he still drove to church.
One Sunday, he walked down the aisle at the end of the service and said, “Pastor, you can take away my deaconship. You can take away my church membership, but I've been wrestling with this for over 20 years. I don't think I’ve ever really given my life to Christ. I've been faithful to attend, faithful to give, but I know that something's not right on the inside. I need to give my life to Jesus. Would you lead me in a prayer to receive Christ?”
I said, “Yes, sir, I will.” He gave his life to Christ that night. He was the oldest man I had ever baptized, up to that moment. He came up out of that water, shouting, “Glory!” The church exploded with excitement because an 80-year-old man (with great service) had finally accepted Jesus Christ. Now he knew Christ!
There are many people who think just because their names are listed on church roles that they are going to heaven. That's not how it works! Only those people whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life (that is kept in Heaven) will go! I want you to be there. I want you to see those who have given their life to Christ, and who have prayed for you. I pray that today, if you don't know Christ, you would give your life to Him.
