John 3:5-6 (NIV) - "Jesus answered, 'Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.'"

Who do you look more like—your mom or your dad? Who do you act more like? I’ve seen people who resemble their mom but act like their dad, and others who have traits that seem to come from neither parent. The truth is, we can’t choose our parents. We can’t choose our race, gender, or other physical characteristics. These are things we’re born into.

In John 3:5-6, Jesus points to a deeper reality—while our physical birth determines many aspects of who we are, it’s our spiritual birth that determines our eternal identity. When we are born of the Spirit, we take on a new nature. The traits of our Heavenly Father begin to shine through us: love, joy, peace, and righteousness.
The beauty of being born of the Spirit is that it’s not something we earn or achieve.
It’s a gift from God, available to everyone who believes in Him. Just as we had no control over our physical birth, being born of the Spirit is an act of God’s grace.

Take a moment today to reflect on your spiritual birth. Are you allowing the Spirit to shape you into the image of your Heavenly Father? Remember, being born of the Spirit isn’t about perfection—it’s about transformation.
