Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

Another glorious day for us to be up, vertical, and setting the example of His love.

Yesterday, I received the second twist in the competition that I had entered and almost did not go through with. The opening requirement was simply the first line of the story. It has to be exactly as the contest creators have written. No biggie there. That was easy enough. With just that requirement, I almost did not write a story because my mind was just not open to the idea of how to make this a solid story. Last week, the first twist came. One of the main characters cannot speak audibly. INSTANTLY, ideas started forming in my head. Who is the main character in my life? God. I proceeded to start my story. Yesterday the second twist came. This twist was a technical one … no sentence can start with a conjunction. As I thought about the story I had begun, I did not think that would be much of an issue … however, when I ran the story through this program that detects such things … let’s just say I was wrong. Let’s also just say that my memory of that part of English class is lacking … haha. No worries though, I love to learn.

Have you ever had a similar situation, where you knew there were a few things that would need to be corrected when an operational change came but when you dove into it, you found that there were a lot more than you imagined? What about when you think about your daily walk? I know that every day one of my prayers is for my tongue to be tamed. That my tone be that of respect or at least clear in meaning. Such as, if I am throwing a joke, let it sound like a joke.

Just like my story and the conjunction dilemma, the further into my walk that I continue … the more I see that I need to correct. It is common for us to get to a place where we ‘think’ we are good. We get complacent in that spot. Next thing we know, there is a laundry list of items that He shows us, and we are like “oops.”

The Holy Spirit will start with big and easy to see items. For instance … drinking in excess. He will convict you and weigh in your heart the dangers and consequences of those actions. Over time you peel away from the daily excess to maybe one a day to one a week and so on. However, after he has guided you away from that dangerous area of life, then he will tweak it or show you a consequence from the excessive drinking … such as finances or relationships. This is how I perceive how the Holy Spirit guides us. He targets a big problem, gets you through it, then molds the rough edges of that problem so that it can be a learning and teaching tool in your spiritual toolbox for when you help someone else.

Today I encourage you to take a look in your spiritual toolbox and see what handy dandy tools you have already acquired and how many are still a little rusty needing polished. I think you will be surprised at how full your toolbox actually is.

Be blessed today my friends.
