Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
Father, I pray that the words that you give me to type to this paper are piercing to the hearts of Your readers. I pray that I am obedient to your presence and your leadership. Fill me with your knowledge and use me as your vessel today. Amen.
Yesterday I did something a little different. I removed my shoes at church. Now, you may wonder why on earth would I share that. That is this or that is that. Everyone has an opinion on if I did something terrible … based on man’s standards.
I have on occasion taken them off periodically in the past, but only itch or rub my foot, then they would promptly go back on my feet. Afterall, I am in church.
Yesterday was different. Yesterday it almost felt like a test of obedience. Yesterday, I felt like He was calling to me and letting me know that I was on Holy ground. Just as Moses was instructed to remove his sandals, to approach the burning bush, I was directed to remove my shoes.
I have been intrigued by a couple of shows that relive the era in which I grew up. It is shocking to see the representation of that era so correctly displayed. Especially in the area of religion. Removing one’s shoes would have been thought of as disrespectful to God. Not to mention the other parishioners that would “see” you without your shoes. What on earth would they think of you?
I believe that my taking my shoes off was a test of obedience and a test of if I was a worldly Christian or a Holy Christian. A worldly Christian would have fallen to the old ways and left my shoes on because it is improper to be in church and not be dressed. But a Holy Chirstian is only concerned with pleasing God. It was not a huge undertaking to take off my shoes. It was simply a test of obedience. I believe that He was seeing if I believed that the church I was attending was Holy ground. I believe that I had my most enlightening encounter and felt his presence more, because I removed my shoes.
Be blessed today my friends.
