GREATER THAN YOUR SIN
God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.
1 TIMOTHY 1:16 NLT
Never talk down what God can do in you. How do you do so? When you say things such as: “I don’t think God can forgive me.” Or, “I’m too flawed for Him to use.” Or, “I’m a lost cause—Jesus can’t fix someone as broken as I am.” You may think you sound humble, but you’re actually doubting God’s power and wisdom.
Paul addressed this when he wrote today’s verse. As a man who had once persecuted the church, he felt himself to be the worst of all sinners—the person least deserving of God’s grace. Yet Paul said that Jesus had mercy on him, so that even at our lowest, we can know for certain Christ wants to forgive and help us. What a beautiful message!
You may feel conviction because God wants to set you free of bondage, but never take that to mean you are too lost for Him to heal. Instead, praise Him for loving you even when you feel most unlovable.
Jesus, You make me worthy when I feel worthless. Thank You that Your grace overcomes all my failings. Amen.
My hope is in Jesus because His grace is greater than my sin.
