Archbishop Elpidophoros, the top Greek Orthodox prelate in America, drew a compelling parallel between Donald Trump's presidency and the legacy of Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, highlighting the transformative power of his leadership in shaping the spiritual landscape in America. Little did he realize that Constantine is the one who made the first Sunday law decree, forbidding the worship of God on Saturday, the original Sabbath.

On March 24, 2025, Archbishop Elpidophoros shared his insights during a special White House event commemorating Greek Independence Day, noting that the convergence of faith and governance can be a powerful catalyst for change, but to what end?

For over 170 years Seventh-day Adventists have been warning that, according to Bible prophecy, this is going to happen. By comparing President Trump to Emperor Constantine, who played a pivotal role in elevating a deluted version of Christianity through uniting church and state, Archbishop Elpidophoros unwittingly hit the nail on the head. Since we are in the time of the eighth king of revelation 17, Pope Francis, Donald Trump could very well be the next Constantine the great, who will enforce Sunday worship.

The prelate underscored the potential for “visionary leadership to forge new paths and build bridges between communities”. But will he really? The worst plagues in scripture are pronounced upon those who do these things.

“Through your leadership, you embody the values of our Christian faith and love for the Gospel. You remind me of the great Roman Emperor, Constantine the Great (applause and cheers) … It is my great honor to present you with this holy cross. This cross is the very symbol that led this great Roman emperor to victory. As Christ revealed to him in a vision, “En Touto Nika” (Greek) told the emperor, it means, Go with this and be victorious, Mr. President. This cross is an everlasting symbol of peace and an invincible trophy, a sign of divine strength and guidance.
