Everywhere you go, you will find competition and pressure to become known for something important. The world applauds those who have the wits and boldness to seize opportunities, even if the methods are ethically questionable. Compromise becomes a norm in climbing the ladder of success; as they get to where they want, they find out that it is an endless climb with no real satisfaction. This psalm tells us where to find stability and how to find it. Choosing integrity in our dealings brings more security; David pictures this as standing on solid ground. Integrity may not get us to our hopes and dreams quickly, but anything that God approves of secures our footing and keeps us safe in all aspects!

We must ask God for strength to resist worldly corruptions and to trust in His ways, even if walking in integrity means that we have to walk alone and be rejected. But we know that as we reject the world, we find the LORD'S pleasure and favor. No matter how rich the world may present itself to be, it is still poor before the unlimited provision and secured promotion of God. So, let us choose to walk in integrity and avoid the shaky ground on which the world stands. In God's path, we are eternally secured.

Father, thank You for giving us secure footing as we walk on Your path. Give us the will to resist the pull of sinful desires and methods. Grant us strength to endure persecution for choosing integrity in our dealings. Let our souls stand in Your love and grace as we continue to trust in Your ways in Jesus' name. Amen.
