Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

As I was exiting the Interstate into Crawfordsville yesterday, I heard an extremely loud noise. At first, I thought it was the truck making a sound of expensive repair. I rolled down my window and realized it was a tornado siren. There was no rain. Clouds were still fairly nice looking. I knew a storm was rolling in, but it did not look like siren bad. When my granddaughter heard the noise, she began to panic and my grandson started with his young logic. Next my phone began to blow up with friends and family concerned about our safety. I was able to get ahold of my son-in-law to ask how the weather was at his house (approximately 20 minutes towards the darker clouds) he said they had nothing, and I told him about the sirens.

Driving through town I now needed to calm my granddaughter down. The rain still was not that much; however the thought of a possible tornado sent her into a panic attack. I could not hold her to calm her down, so I had to use my tone. They had gone to church with me, so now was a good time to explain God. My words were not enough, however when I explained that God made a promise to always be with us, and that when two or more people are together and believe the same thing, he is there. So we counted off how many were in the truck and when we hit three, I asked her if that was more than two. She agreed and started to calm down.

Leaving their house, the sirens were now going off to the south of them. I told them that I would take the long way back to the interstate because I did not feel like chancing a flight. I did hit a bit of the storm; however, it was not as severe. The clouds as I hit the highway were quite ominous, but just as I calmed my granddaughter down, I claimed His promise to always be with me. He was. I made it home without a scratch.

When we get thrown into a storm out of nowhere, it is important to remember who our umbrella and slicker is. The storm you are in there is a plan, it could be a test of faith, it could be a test for you to be able to use as a witness, it could be a number of other situations, but … you must remember that He is always with you. Job lost everything and God was there.

I would guestimate that 90 percent of our trials are so that we can help someone through those same instances at a later time. People respond better to those who have walked that path. I lost a child; I was able to completely sympathize with my sister when she lost hers. I went through and am going through a journey with my mother which helped me help my brother when he was going through the same with our dad. Now that dad has passed, he is now in a position to help me when mom is called home. The purpose of any journey, in my opinion, is to help others later in life. Experience speaks volumes.

Take a few moments today and thank God for all that you have survived and ask him how you may apply your lessons to help and bless others.

Be blessed today my friends.

***Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. – James 1:2-4
