3-31-25 Devotional Thoughts

This is the third time I have randomly opened up to this section of the Bible. 2 Samuel 24: 18-35

David builds an altar.

David goes looking for a place to make sacrifices. The servant tried to hand over his barn and animals so David can build the altar, at the threshing floor of Araunah, but David told him, “I will not make sacrifices to my God that cost me nothing.” Then, David paid him 50 shekels of silver and made sacrifices to God, and the plague was withdrawn.

David, a foreshadowing of Jesus, is the king paying a price in order to make a sacrifice to God so that the plague can be withdrawn from Israel. As believers, we often think we have to work for our salvation or healing, but Jesus is saying that he already paid the price, and he wants to heal not only us individually, but our entire people group and land. Thank you, Jesus.
