Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
Today we are in a day of morning as a Christian nation. Today we are hiding from the Romans and the Sanhedrin. Today we wonder how or rather ‘what’ we are supposed to do now. We have dedicated our lives to (follow) The Christ, but he is dead. He died yesterday.
Today the Sadducees and Pharisees are attempting to rationalize how the curtain was torn … from top to bottom. The fabric and construction were so heavy and firmly woven that it took several men and contraptions to raise it into place. You can’t ‘just’ rip it up if you are mad. Today the religious leaders are celebrating their victory in protecting ‘their’ way of religious law life.
Today the Romans of the area are talking about this (god) and how they had their way. They are talking about how they tortured and ridiculed him. Except for one, the one who stuck him with the spear. He is now second guessing his life choices and what he has done.
This is today, but did you notice yesterday?
Yesterday there was a mixture of weather menopause, sunlight and breeze. Less sun, more breeze, and clouds. By midafternoon, heavy overcast and stern, commanding wind. Followed by emerging sunlight and less wind. To end the day with a refreshing rain to sleep by.
Today as I sip my coffee, this thought pattern continues to be the forefront of my mind. Yesterday I spent the day driving to my tiny towns trying to get caught up and, in my driving, I listened and sang off key very loudly along with the radio. I needed to worship Him to refresh my spirit. With a combination of my father-in-law’s physical health and his spiritual health, I was weighted. I needed that time alone with him to release it to his hands. In my thoughts, the radio’s reminder of Good Friday, and my need to release the stressors building up, I saw Him flogged. I saw Him beaten. I saw Him scorned. I saw Him exposed. I saw His love.
By the end of doing three counts and my lunch, it was time for me to return to the office and release my clerk. Though I was tired, God sent the necessary customers to raise my spirits and remind me that He is always there. My first customer was my hugger. Followed by my new hugger. A bit later, my sarcastic twin. Three of the best customers a person could have. We ended last night with an experiment gone great for dinner and a very solid night’s sleep.
Today we are fortunate to know what comes next. Today we do not need to mourn. Today we know that Sunday is coming and what was done was done for us. Today … we pray for those who do not understand the true meaning or have turned their back on the meaning. Today we do what we signed up for … Follow the Christ.
Be blessed today my friends.
