Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
I do believe that Spring is really here now. What is the old saying ‘in like a lion out like a lamb.’ I believe that the lion is here. The wind gusts are quite roary if you ask me.
The latest competition that I entered gave me a full week to come up with a story, edit, rewrite or whatever … as of yesterday afternoon I had deleted three attempts and was ready to just not compete. My mind was not on this story frame. So much was going through my mind, I just was not feeling it. However, when we got home from our drive, I told my husband I was going to make another attempt and just see what happens. Guess what? A story was born.
A few months ago, I joined a writing club that has a writing program which helps strengthen your stories. It analyzes and highlights certain areas that could use some work. My last few stories have landed in the mid eighty percents. Like a constant B performance. Yesterday’s last-minute entry landed in a solid A range. Mid-low nineties percent. Not just overall, but through all the categories that they evaluate.
I suppose, once I shut (my) brain off and let His words flow, a story was born. Imagine that, letting go and letting God. I think I heard that somewhere before.
It sounds cliché but it really does work. When we get out of His way, things happen. He gave me two words that he wanted me to use in my story, one was an adjective and the other a name. I am not entirely sure why these two; but they were completely stuck for eternity in my brain. Each attempt was going one way and obviously it was wrong because they were deleted. However, the final path was a cute little story of fauns and fairies. An area that I do not frequent when writing.
Sometimes we get a clue from Him and start running before we give Him a chance to show us what he is looking for. We assume that we are on board and ‘know’ exactly what is expected. Five will get you thirty that we are wrong most of the time. Our interpretation based on the first thought that comes to mind usually causes more turmoil. I know that is the case with this story and many other encounters I have had lately.
I know that I need to stop, drop and roll a lot of the time when listening to His voice. Stop my brain and listen to His voice entirely. Drop to my knees and pray for guidance. Roll with the path He lays before me, even if it does not make sense. STOP. DROP. ROLL.
Isn’t that what they taught us to put out a fire? Isn’t God the ultimate Fireman?
Be blessed today my friends.
