My People

Today we are going to look at a popular scripture with a couple of often overlooked parts in it…

2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

The two over looked parts of this scripture is the first two parts. “If my people, which are called by my name”. The rest of this scripture is speaking about His people, which are called by His name. If you think about that part of the scripture first then the rest of it becomes more interesting. He wants His people to…

A. Humble themselves
B. Pray
C. Seek his face
D. Turn from their wicked ways

Notice here it is not speaking to sinners, although He also wants sinners to be saved, He is addressing His people! Many times, in scripture He calls out Israel for their sins of disobedience, unbelief, idol worship and others.

Now, if we are born again, we are His people also and as such Yahwah wants us to humble ourselves, pray, seek his face and turn from our wicked ways.
