Each of us has strengths to share with another and knowledge with which to guide another. But that does not make us self-sufficient. . . .

Sometimes we are the friend who steps in to help; sometimes we are the friend who is helped. In either case our experience of freedom is deepened. We are no longer imprisoned in our strengths; we are no longer paralyzed by our needs. We acquire a sense of mutuality as we help and are helped.
