Micah 6:8 – “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”

Many people wonder what they are to do in life. First of all, the Bible shows us very clearly how we are to live in this world. But in this verse, God essentially said, “You act as if it is some mystery what I require of you. In point of fact it is no mystery at all. I have shown you clearly what is good and what I require of you.”

What a relief to know that God has made His expectations clear! His requirements are not a secret, nor are they a burden. Micah 6:8 breaks it down into three profound yet simple actions:

- Do Justly – Live with integrity and fairness, not just in your actions but also in your relationships. This means being honest, treating others with respect, and standing up for what is right, even when it’s difficult. It reflects God’s own justice, which is perfect and impartial.
- Love Mercy – Show kindness and compassion, even when it’s undeserved. Mercy isn’t just something we extend to others; it’s something we celebrate and hold dear. Loving mercy means letting go of grudges, choosing forgiveness, and seeking the good of others as God has shown us mercy.
- Walk Humbly with Your God – This is about surrender, dependence, and intimacy with the Lord. To walk humbly is to recognize our need for Him in every aspect of our lives. It’s not about being self-sufficient but about being God-sufficient, trusting Him every step of the way.

Together, these three actions—justice, mercy, and humility—paint a beautiful picture of a life aligned with God’s heart. They remind us that it’s not about grand gestures or lofty ambitions; it’s about faithfully living out the goodness He’s already revealed.
