Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
I pray that you all enjoyed your beautiful spring day. It was glorious. I spent my day cleaning my office. Seven hours of filing, pitching, and finding buried treasure. Unfortunately, that was not enough time to complete the task. However, it does not feel as crowded now, the files are put away…95 percent of them anyway. There is no longer a tote under my desk with a bunch of stuff on it. I can now see what is on my big shelving unit and … and … you can see the floor. IT’S A MIRACLE.
One of the treasures that I found were pay stubs for my husband from 1995 when he worked for a small gas company as a service tech. Four and five hundred net dollars for two weeks. My daughter nearly had a heart attack … haha.
My husband had to help a friend today, so I was here all alone. It was peaceful. I was able to stay focused and not get sidetracked on videos. I kicked on my Pandora Christian music first, then I switched to instrumental. It was quite relaxing. It also felt like I had actually accomplished something when I finally stopped at 6 for the night. So much here lately I am just on autopilot. Today I had focus, a task to complete, and I am pleased with what I was able to do. After my breakfast with my son-in-law in the morning, I will finish the task. Then … when the mood strikes me … I will tackle another room that is in need of treasure hunting skills.
When I train new employees, I explain that they do not need to get stressed out if there becomes a line because they are learning. They need only to focus on the customer in front of them. That customer is their only concern. Give that customer the best customer service and attention, then move to the next one. By doing that, you are completely invested in that customer, and they will recognize your effort to do your best with them.
In my need to declutter, I get mad at myself because I have let it get this way. Now mind you, you will never be able to walk through my house with a white glove, but it is usually decent. (now that I am older) However, when I get on autopilot, it’s up, work (doctor), cook dinner, sleep, and do it all over again. That is it. While eating dinner, I watch television to be able to think about something else. While I am on autopilot mode, the clutter builds…which makes it worse in my mind.
So, in order to get it under control again, I will take one room at a time. I may be all over that room in fourteen capacities, but I will stay in that room until I am done. It may take me sixty days a week to get it done, but it will eventually get done.
When we get overwhelmed with a task…no matter what it is, the enemy leaps at the opportunity to weigh us down. He finds ways to make us look for alternative things to do or not do instead of what we really need to do. In the process of his shrouds of lies, our task grows.
My advice to you this evening as we prepare for bed, ask the Holy Spirit to guide your footsteps on your project that needs to be completed. One step at a time. One room at a time. One file at a time. One day at a time. One pound at a time. One prayer at a time. That ONE thing that you are doing…that is your focus and nothing else. When that ONE thing is done, you will feel so much better. I promise. Let Him lead you in the steps to accomplish just ONE thing.
Be blessed this evening my friends.
