Today as I read through Mark chapter 2 but I was following along in KJV and Kris Langham was reading the NIV and in verse 17 in NIV they left out one important word at the end of that verse and that word was "REPENTANCE" here it is that verse in the NIV
Mark 2:17 17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
And here it is in the KJV
Mark 2:17 (KJV) When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
And this is one reason i do not like reading any other version of the Bible but the KJV.
But that was talking about that Christ was there to call the sinner to repentance and not the righteous to repentance if they weren't sinning then why would they need Christ, but I all actuality we all need Christ because we all fall short of the glory of God.
The rest of the lesson was great to in Mark 2:21,22 these are very important verses too because it is talking about the sinner and how there heart was before Christ changed it and repentance and how it should be after repentance we need new hearts because if we add new wine or we start a new way of living into old bottles or into our old hearts then it will be wasted because we haven't really haven't changed our old ways or habits. So we need new bottles or new hearts for us to change our way of living so we can except and do what our new heart or the Holy Spirit tell us to do, so we can have a change of heart and a new way of living.
Mark 2:21-22 (KJV) No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.
And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.
And another good verse is for all of though people that think the 10 commandments law was abolished at the cross it was not and the forth commandment is still in affect we are supposed to observe the Sabbath.
Mark 2:27-28 (KJV) And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
