What If Your Business Got the Same Treatment as Your Child’s Baby Dedication? I'm Just Thinking!
There’s a sacred moment in many churches when parents bring their newborns forward, lifting them up to God, surrendering their futures, and asking for His guidance. But what if we did the same with our businesses?
.
I’ll never forget the day I held my first business plan like a newborn, trembling with excitement and fear. I’d dedicated my Son's to God in the past, but it hadn’t clicked yet: This venture was also His. Then I read 1 Samuel 1:27-28—Hannah’s prayer as she surrendered Samuel: "I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked. So now I give him to the Lord."
.
That’s when I knelt beside my spreadsheet and prayed:
"God, this business is Yours first. Its profits, its impact, even its struggles—I surrender them. Let it feed the hungry like You multiplied loaves. Let it employ the faithful like Joseph in Pharaoh’s court. Let it honour you more than it serves me."
.
The mystery? The moment I stopped clinging, the business flourished. Clients appeared like manna (Exodus 16). Doors opened without lobbying (Revelation 3:8). Why? Because a dedicated business—like a dedicated child—is protected and propelled by the One who owns it.
.
Kingdom Entrepreneur, your work is a living offering. This week, lay it on the altar again. Say: "I’ll steward this, but you own it." Watch what He does with what’s fully His.
