In today's Gospel, John 13:20, Christ weaves together the divine origin of His mission, the sacred trust placed in His followers, and the call for all who believe to see beyond the surface into the mystery of God’s presence in the world. It is both a comfort and a challenge — a comfort to know Christ is near whenever His servants are near, and a challenge to open our hearts to those we might otherwise overlook. As we listen to this stories and try to emulate Christ, we give something good of ourselves to the world. We also learn to seek the good in others. Changing this one thing about our approach to the world changes us and allows us to let God into our hearts more each day. When we do for others we do for Christ. Fighting the good fight isn't fighting one another, or having to be right, or waging wars. It is striving within our own hearts and minds to see and do what God would to the best of our ability; all the while knowing that we sin.
