God's love is a gift that is offered to all, but our ability to experience it fully depends on our relationship with Him. While God’s love is universal, the Bible reveals that there are different levels of intimacy and depth with which we can experience that love. The more we draw near to Him, love Him, and obey His commands, the greater the depth of His love we experience. Let’s explore these divine levels of experiencing God's love.

Level 1: Universal Love – Available to All

God’s love is universally extended to all people, regardless of their actions, status, or past. His love is foundational and available to everyone.

John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

This level speaks of God’s general love for all of humanity, offering salvation and grace to everyone. It's the love that brings the opportunity for all to know Him.

Romans 2:11: "For God does not show favoritism."
This reinforces that God’s love is impartial, freely given to all people.

Level 2: Love Through Relationship – Seeking and Drawing Near

While God's love is available to everyone, the experience of His love becomes deeper as we seek Him and draw near to Him. This level involves a conscious effort to pursue a relationship with God.

James 4:8: "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you."

This verse suggests that as we actively seek God and get closer to Him, He responds by drawing closer to us, creating a deeper experience of His love.

Matthew 7:7: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

God responds to our desire for Him. The more we seek, the more we experience His love.

Level 3: Love Through Obedience – Experiencing His Presence

At this level, God’s love is experienced through our obedience to His
commandments. The more we align ourselves with His will, the more we experience His presence and love.

John 14:21: "Whoever has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them."

Obedience to God’s commandments opens the door for a deeper revelation of His love, as He promises to make His presence known to those who love and obey Him.

1 John 5:3: "In fact, this is love for God: to keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome."

Obeying God’s commandments is a sign of our love for Him, and through this obedience, we experience a greater measure of His love.

Level 4: Love Through Intimacy – Closer Fellowship

As we continue to love and obey God, we enter into a closer, more intimate fellowship with Him. This level involves a personal, ongoing relationship where God shares His heart with us.

Revelation 3:20: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me."

This signifies a personal communion with God, where we invite Him in, and He shares His love with us in a deeply intimate way.

Psalm 25:14: "The Lord confides in those who fear Him; He makes His covenant known to them."

This speaks of a close, intimate relationship where God reveals His secrets to those who are truly devoted to Him.

Level 5: Love Through Sacrifice – The Highest Level of Love

The highest level of experiencing God's love is through sacrifice—when we are willing to give up everything for His sake, just as Christ did for us. This is the ultimate expression of love.

John 15:13: "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."

This level speaks to the sacrificial love Jesus showed for us. As we grow in love for God, we are called to sacrifice our will, desires, and even lives to Him in return.

Romans 12:1: "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship."

At this level, we respond to God's love by offering our lives entirely to Him in service and worship, surrendering all for His purpose.

God’s love is available to all, but our response to His love determines the depth at which we experience it. From the universal love available to everyone, to the sacrificial love that calls us to lay down our lives, each level of experiencing God’s love brings us closer to His heart.
