Saint Bernardino of Siena was born in 1380. In 1403, he joined the Observant branch of the Franciscan Order (Order of Friars Minor). For over 30 years, he traveled across Italy, becoming a central figure in the religious revival of the early 15th century. Despite having a weak and hoarse voice, Bernardino was renowned as one of the greatest preachers of his time.
Following his death on 20 May 1444, reports of miracles attributed to him spread rapidly. He was canonized just six years later, in 1450, by Pope Nicholas V. His feast day in the Roman Catholic Church is celebrated on 20 May, the anniversary of his death
