ATTITUDE (23) By BBJohn

Let us consider how to give to the poor and the benefits of giving in general.

Giving to the poor should be with meekness, humbleness, and honor. We're to secretly and discreetly give to the poor with a true heart that respects and upholds the dignity of the poor. The truth is: God sees giving to the poor and needy as an act of justice, and He also recognizes that the poor have a claim on the possessions of the rich. Thus, upholding justice and fairness demands respecting and honoring the dignity of the poor. We’re fair only when we kindly treat the poor with honor as neighbors and friends.

Lastly, what are the benefits of giving?

(i). Giving is an attitude that helps us to build a good and generous heart. (Job 31: 16 - 22)

(ii). Giving liberates us from greed and covetous desire to hoard material possessions. (Acts 10: 2 - 4, 31)

(iii). Giving strengthens our faith in God’s provisions and goodness. (Acts 9: 6)

(iv). It fosters spiritual growth and relationship with God. (Job 31: 16 - 22; Luke 19: 1 - 10)

(v). Giving is a way of investing treasures for ourselves in heaven - (Luke 18: 22)

(vi). Giving brings diverse blessings to us. Givers never lack. (Luke 16: 19-31)

(vii). It saves us from the eternal tragedy resulting from neglecting the poor. (Luke 16: 19-31)
