Over the past several weeks, my girlfriend and I have taken up planting mostly flowers, but also some vegetables and herbs. It’s become more than a hobby it’s been a quiet classroom where God is teaching us profound truths. Today, while she was carefully potting flowers and tending to seedlings, I stood at the grill, just watching her work. There was something sacred about the moment. As I sat there, God touched my heart. I was reminded of a simple but powerful truth: we can plant the seeds and we can water them, but only God can bring the growth.
Science can explain parts of the process like germination, sunlight, water, photosynthesis , but at some point, you hit a wall where human knowledge fades, and the mystery of God takes over. That mystery that’s where faith lives. And it’s just like life, isn’t it? Whether it’s a relationship, a friendship, a dream, or a calling, we each have a part to play. We plant. We water. We nurture. But in the end, it’s God who brings the increase. No farmer sows a field and expects a harvest the next morning. He knows growth takes time. He trusts the process. He waits.
It’s the same with us. If we’ll just be faithful to plant seeds of love, grace, patience, and truth in each other, in our work, in our families, and tend to them with care, then we can trust God to do what only He can do: bring life from the dirt, beauty from the buried, fruit from the unseen. So keep planting. Keep watering. And keep waiting not with anxiety, but with faith. Because God is always working in the soil of our lives, even when we don’t see it.
